The following is a mattering map of my family values:
From the previous step, I discussed how my father would tell me all the teachings he learned from his parents when he was my age. This map shows our quotes and visualizes where my ethos and values stem from.
I would like to share the details of an average day working with my family. The morning routines we shared, our work hours, and coming back home all realizes these quotes in some physical way. For example, my dad would tell me to “actively listen to others” and during the day I would carefully listen to what our employees would have to tell me. Or for the quote, “Seek first to understand, and then to be understood”, is used when I have a dispute with another individual. Sometimes, I feel that I could use certain quotes more often, but it can be quite hard when I lose focus of my family values. Specifically during my year back on campus, I didn’t have someone constantly reminding me of our family values, so I would wake up later than I’d like to. I would hate to build akrasia, so I am starting to become the person that would remind me of the value set I learned. (Basically, I’m becoming my dad.)
